5 Wardrobe Essentials This Winter

The trees are losing the last of their leaves, the days are growing shorter and the temperature cooler – winter is here. You might be starting to miss the summer sun, but it’s time to pull out your winter clothes and get cosy. Even though life might be a little different this year, this is still the time to get excited about snuggling down on the sofa and waiting for the festivities to begin. To make sure you’re looking wonderful throughout the season, here are five winter wardrobe essentials you should have.

1.   Boots

Your time outside might be limited this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but when you do venture out of the house it’s important to keep your feet dry and toasty! You should always invest in a pair of good-quality boots for the winter that can handle wind, rain, frost and snow. While you might want to treat yourself to a stylish pair, you should also make sure they have a good grip so you don’t slip on the ice when you’re out for a wintry walk.

2.   Knitted Jumpers

Thick, knitted jumpers are the perfect winter clothing that everyone needs in their wardrobe. Not only are they guaranteed to keep you warm in a chilly house or when you’re walking in the frosty weather, but they also look gorgeous. Find one that’s made from soft wool for the ultimate comfort. If you’re not crazy about chunky knits, a collection of more delicately designed sweaters will work just as well.

3.   Long-Sleeved Dress

Long-sleeved dresses are the perfect way to maintain a particularly feminine style during the cooler months. Winter dresses are often made from thicker material as well and can look gorgeous when matched with some thick, woolly tights and cute ankle boots. If you want to make your outfit pop and look like you’ve walked out of a fashion magazine, throw on a faux fur vest over the top for a chic, retro-wintry look. That would also look great with a light, turtle neck top, and jeans.

4.   Winter Coat

Of course, you can’t go anywhere during the colder months without a big winter coat. It’s better to get one with a hood in case you get caught in bad weather, or want to keep your head warmer when you don’t have a hat. Over-sized cotton coats are in fashion this year, as is the classic trench coat design. Faux fur coats are great for those who like a touch of glamour or invest in an aviator jacket for a more casual look.

5.   Hat and Scarf

Finally, no winter wardrobe would be complete without having a least one hat and scarf in it. You should think about getting a few options so you can mix and match, or dress up/dress down your outfits. Remember to buy yourself a pair of gloves as well to keep your hands warm and safe from the bitter cold!

Even if you can’t get out much this winter, there’s no reason you can’t stay in style. Make sure you have these five winter essentials in your wardrobe.
