Panto Auditions for Junior Chorus for Robin Hood at the Queen’s Theatre

Calling all children aged 9 – 15! The Queen’s Theatre Hornchruch is holding open auditions on Saturday 22 June giving youngsters the chance to star in this year’s Christmas pantomime Robin Hood.

The Theatre is inviting 9 to 15-year-olds to try out for parts in the panto’s Junior Chorus. Auditions will be held at the Queen’s Theatre, Billet Lane, Hornchurch.

Robin Hood will be directed by Douglas Rintoul (the Queen’s Theatre’s Artistic Director) with choreography by Sundeep Saini and musical direction by Tom Self.

Deep in the heart of his foreboding Castle, the dastardly Sheriff of Nottingham is taxing the poor to pile up his gold, whilst imprisoning brave Maid Marian and her hilarious Nurse Nellie.

But the Sheriff hasn’t banked on our arrow slinging hero Robin emerging from Sherwood Forest to target the hand of Marion and outwit the villain’s plans. Can Robin save the day with a little help from his band of Friar Tuck and plucky Merry Folk?

Candidates must be able to sing and dance to a high standard, and preferably have some dance training. They must also have plenty of enthusiasm and commitment! Successful auditionees join the team of chorus members, who share 60 performances of Robin Hood during its run from 28 November 2019 – 5 January 2020.

Anyone interested must book their places by emailing [email protected] stating the child’s name, age, date of birth, address and telephone number.

The Queen’s Theatre will be in contact with a time-slot and registration form to bring on the day. Auditionees must wear suitable clothes to move about in and be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Successful candidates must attend all rehearsals, which will begin on Saturday 2 November and will take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (5pm – 8pm) and Saturday daytimes (exact timings TBC), as well as be available for all technical and dress rehearsals 19 to 27 November.

They will also need to attend a ‘meet and greet’ on Friday 1 November prior to the rehearsal period.
