Healthwatch Essex wants to recruit ‘Maternity Patient Partners’

Healthwatch Essex is currently working on a project with Mid and South Essex Sustainability Transformation Partnership and we are looking to recruit volunteers called ‘Maternity Patient Partners’ to assist with this.

Post Title: Maternity Patient Partner (Mid and South Essex STP)
Location: Mid and South Essex STP footprint which includes the boroughs and districts of: Braintree; Maldon; City of Chelmsford; Castle Point; Rochford; Southend-on-Sea; Thurrock; Basildon and Brentwood
Duration: 18 months (flexible but on average 1 to 2 hours per week) – starting from September 2018
Place of work: Home based (via email, phone), with occasional meetings or potential desk based exercises at the office.
Type of Role: This is a voluntary, unpaid role. Reasonable travel expenses will be paid.

Healthwatch Essex is working with the Mid and South Essex Sustainability Transformation Partnership (STP) to support a number of Patient Partner volunteers which will have a direct input into the transformation of maternity services in this area.

We are looking for people who have experience of maternity services within the past five years, as a patient, carer or relative. You will be passionate about wanting to improve the quality of maternity services provided and should be willing to share your experiences and opinions. You should also be capable of listening to, valuing and gathering the views and experiences of other people.

Our Patient Partners will work directly with clinicians and NHS managers to ensure that the voice and lived experience of services users, carers and the wider community is used to inform and improve local services. We want co-production to be at the centre of the transformation and maternity pathway reviews. The Patient Partners may also be involved in supporting contract monitoring of maternity services.
