A Guide to Freshening Up Your Living Room

Any living space can become dull, boring or simply in need of a change after you spend a lot of time in it, and this is especially true for living rooms. As the name suggests, you spend a lot, if not most of your time here, which means you can grow tired of what you see and begin to resent it if you don’t make any changes. In order to keep your living room an inviting place that you want to spend time in, you should give it a refresher every so often. Here are some tips on how to do just that.

1.   Rearrange the Furniture

Mix things up a bit in your living room by swapping around the armchair, the sofa or whatever furniture you have. Simply changing the positions of your furniture can give the room a whole new look, make it seem more spacious and give it a new lease of life when you need it the most.

2.   Hang Up New Photographs

Most people have framed photographs of their friends, family and pets in the living room, but nowadays, new photos just stay on mobile phones instead of being printed and displayed. If you think you need to give your windowsills or fireplace a new look, print some photographs, get them framed, and have your latest memories to look back on every day.

3.   Do a Deep Clean

Sometimes a weekly clean just won’t do it when you need to revive an old living room. A deep clean will give you the chance to dig into all the nooks and crannies you may have missed on your regular clean and give the room a sparkling gleam as if it were brand new. For your furniture, you should hire a sofa cleaning service to bring some life back into it.

4.   Add Fresh Flowers

Flowers are usually a kitchen staple, but they work well in the living room, too. They’re a simple way of adding some natural brightness and sweet aromas that will lift the room. Alternatively, you could bring in some houseplants to add an element of natural greenery. Plants are generally a great way to brighten up any room!

5.   Redecorate

Redecorating can be a daunting task; new wallpaper, paint, carpet. There are a lot of elements when it comes to a full redecoration, but if you want to liven up the living room a little bit, you can choose just one of these things, and it will give the room the boost it needs. A new coat of paint, even in the same colour, will make a room look new again. Replacing a tired carpet with a new softer and brighter one will make the room much more inviting and comfortable. Redecoration doesn’t have to be a whole project; you can pick and choose which bits to redecorate.

Your living room should reflect how you want to live. It should be comfortable, bright and a place you want to spend time with your family. If it’s not like this, it should be simple enough to change!
